DATES CONFIRMED FOR NEXT YEAR’S NEWCASTLE 500

Supercars have released their calendar of events for 2020, with the Newcastle 500 to take place in early December.

The event, which remains the final round of the season will take place on the weekend of December 4th to December 6th.

Newcastle holds the rights to the sport’s final round until 2021, having first hosted the showpiece event in 2017.

Previously, a top-10 shootout hadn’t featured as part of the spectacle, however that will change next year, as Supercars looks to increase the sports appeal.

“We are also working hard on providing an improved offering for the fans with a more seamless experience from the time they buy a ticket to the time they leave the track, diverse food and beverage offerings including more modern options and additional entertainment,” said Supercars CEO, Sean Seamer.

The traditional Gold Coast 600 remains a part of the program, while longstanding events at Phillip Island and Queensland Raceway have been left out for 2020.

“Phillip Island is one of the best permanent circuits in Australia, but with our operational requirements limiting the number of rounds we can complete over 12 months, it was not included in the 2020 calendar,” Seamer said.
