FITZSIMMONS FIFTH AT WORLD CHAMPS

Avoca lifesaver Riley Fitzsimmons and his K2 partner Jordan Wood, have narrowly missed out on a medal in the 1000 metre final of the World Sprint Canoe Championships in Hungary.

They made their move at the 500 and were challenging for the lead… but there was no stopping the Germans, who were simply a class above.

The battle for the bronze was too close to call… the Aussie crew finishing fifth by a fingernail.

Despite missing the dais, the pair automatically qualify for Tokyo 2020.
