TAMWORTH WATER TASKFORCE’S FIRST MEETING A SUCCESS

The first meeting of Tamworth’s newly introduced Water Supply Taskforce has proven a success.

13 members from across the city’s Council, Business Chamber and Emergency Services met yesterday to discuss plans for the region’s current and future water supply.

Mayor Col Murray, who also serves as Taskforce Chairperson, says initiatives suggested by the group will become a ‘Plan B’.

“If we don’t see any relief from rainfall, if the drought does continue and the water supplies do diminish, we need a strong plan.”

Currently, Chaffey Dam is losing approximately one quarter of a percent in capacity per week.

Level 5 restrictions are expected to be introduced over the next 4 to 8 weeks.
