WARREN SHIPLEY TAKES OUT THE MATTARA CARNIVAL

To lawn bowls, and Charlestown’s Warren Shipley, has claimed his second straight Les Parrott Memorial Singles title at Wallsend, the showpiece event of the 59th Mattara Carnival.

Shipley established an early lead against Billy Ahoy from the Soldiers Point club and never let up, eventually winning 21-11.

In the Dennis Broad Restricted Singles event, Brian Doyle from Hamilton North won a tight battle with Merewether’s Adam Chaffey, 21 to 14.
