TEENAGER CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY BREAKING POLICE OFFICER’S NOSE

A teenage boy has been refused bail after allegedly breaking an officer’s nose during the search for a wanted man in Gunnedah.

Officers attached to the High Risk Domestic Violence Team attended a home on Edward Street around 11am on Tuesday morning, to make inquiries about a wanted person.

Upon entering the home, it’s alleged the 16-year-old boy pushed an officer in the back before he was subdued with pepper spray and arrested.

When assisted to his feet, it’s alleged the boy headbutted the officer, breaking their nose.

The boy has since been charged with resist arrest, assault police officer in the execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, and assault officer in the execution of duty.

He’s set to appear at a Children’s Court on Wednesday.
