THREE WATCH & ACT WARNINGS IN PLACE ON NSW NORTH COAST

KREMNOS FIRE

UPDATE | An out-of-control bushfire burning south of Grafton has been downgraded to a Watch & Act level warning.

EARLIER | An emergency warning has been issued for an out of control bushfire burning south of Grafton.

The main fire front is likely to impact a number of remote properties in the vicinity of Kremnos within the next two hours.

Residents on Sandstone Drive and McGills Road are being advised to seek shelter as the fire approaches.

Strong winds are throwing embers up to 4-kilometres ahead of the main front.

The blaze has already scorched more than 400 hectares.

 

CRESCENT HEAD FIRE

An out of control bushfire burning near Crescent Head on the state’s Mid North Coast has been downgraded to a Watch & Act level warning.

EARLIER | An emergency warning has been issued for a bushfire burning near Crescent Head on the state’s Mid North Coast.

The blaze at Verges Creek is likely to impact properties in the vicinity of Loftus Road, with the fire having already crossed the Belmore River.

It’s now too late to leave, with residents urged to take shelter as the fire front approaches.

Loftus Road has been closed.

A Watch & Act warning has also been issued for a fire burning west of Kempsey at Turners Flat.

Waterboming aircraft are working to support crews on the ground, with strong winds fuelling the blaze.

Wind speeds in excess of 70km/h have been recorded at Kempsey Airport.

Further north, firefighters continue to battle an out of control grass fire at Whitemans Creek, near Grafton.

The blaze has burnt through more than 300 hectares.

It continues to burn along the Clarence Way, towards the Clarence River, under strong westerly winds.
