NEW LAMBTON CLINCH WPL PREMIERSHIP

In Round 18 of the Women’s Premier League, Warners Bay and South Wallsend shared the points, as did Thornton and Mid North Coast, while Merewether edged out Adamstown.

In Sunday’s other game, New Lambton hosted Wallsend and the home side made a perfect start, Lauren Allan on target inside the opening minutes.

But Wallsend responded with a great strike by Olivia Kennedy to level things up.

New Lambton eventually went on to win 4-1 and claim the premiership title with three rounds left to play.
