Witnesses are being urged to come forward, after the body of a man was found on the side of the Pacific Highway near Kempsey.
Police were alerted to the discovery at Barraganyatti just before midnight on Monday, with initial inquiries suggesting the body may have been there for up to three hours.
A crime scene was established, with an early line of inquiry being that the man was struck by a northbound vehicle, possibly a truck.
