NEW LOOK MARINERS SECURE PRE-SEASON WIN

A new-look Mariners outfit has bounced back from last year’s wooden spoon campaign, in its first pre-season match against Manly.

United found the back of the net first at Pluim Park in the 10th minute.

The Central Coast’s Matt Simon equalised with a penalty shot in the 42nd.

New recruit Giancarlo Gallifuoco added to the Mariners’ account, before Abraham Majok declared his intentions: bagging a brace to deliver a 4-1 win to the Central Coast.

“It’s great to get these matches under our belt,” Mariners coach Alen Stajcic said.

“So, you know, we’ve got a lot of new faces and just getting that team chemistry together is really important for our team.

“We saw the longer the match went on the game got better which is really important moving into the next match.”

Stajcic’s goal now: getting his squad fit for the FFA Cup.
