Newcastle’s much loved Tower Cinemas could be set to re-open, under an ambitious plan by a local business consortium.
The lights could be switched back on as early as November under the plan by Iconic Cinemas.
“Iconic Cinemas is targeting late November 2019 as the time that the silver screens at the Tower Cinemas will again shine brightly and the ‘gift to Newcastle’ will again provide quality entertainment to its community,” said company director, Steven Prichard.
The King Street venue was closed in early December last year, with the proposal likely to see the facility used for a wide array of content.
“The city needs a place where the community can view a wide range of art house, classic and mainstream films,” Mr Prichard said.
