TEA GARDENS SLIPWAY RESPONDS TO EMERGENCY

The Tea Gardens Slipway Association has responded to a vessel in distress, highlighting concerns over a recent Department of Crown Lands decision forcing its closure due to environmental concerns.

The Sol Ray began taking on water during this week’s storms and required emergency slipping to inspect its hull’s integrity.

Local boaties say the incident highlights the slip’s role in preventing environmental damage on the Myall River.

The 40 foot steel cruiser was returned to her mooring on Friday morning.
