TEENAGER CHARGED WITH STRIKING ELDERLY PEDESTRIAN IN MAYFIELD

A teenager’s been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly striking an elderly pedestrian in Mayfield.

Around 3.30pm yesterday, a 79-year-old man was walking along a nature strip on Villiers Street when a 17-year-old boy driving a Holden Nova allegedly struck him.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Police allege the driver didn’t try to help the man, and left the scene.

The boy later attended Waratah Police Station where he was arrested and refused bail to face a Children’s Court today.
