MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER FATAL FIGHT AT TWEED HEADS

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of 54-year-old man at Tweed Heads West.

On the evening of the 15th of May, police say a group of people were at a unit on Kennedy Drive when a fight broke out between the pair, with the younger man assaulting the older man a number of times.

The 54-year-old was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, but died a week later.

The 47-year-old was arrested at the scene, and charged.

He later had his charges upgraded to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Sunday.
