GREAT WEEKEND FOR NEWCASTLE IN WARATAH BASKETBALL

A tough night for Maitland in the Waratah League, with the men and women losing to Norths.
Better news for Newcastle, with the men recording their first win this season.
The league leading Hunters’ women also faced the Sharks, featuring Shyla Heal, daughter of legendary Boomers’ guard, Shane.
The home side did its best to stifle Heal, but she still managed 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Newcastle’s Jasmin Howe had her measure.
The captain had a game high 25, including six three-pointers.
Mikaela Dombkins, Lara McSpadden and Hannah Young also made valuable contributions as the Hunters won 11 straight.
