NEW TAMWORTH FIRE STATION ON TRACK FOR CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN AUGUST

Tamworth’s proposed state of the art, 24-hour fire station, is well into the final stages of planning.

Fire crews met with Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson this morning, to discuss changes to a few design details.

“The Fire Station’s going to be a very large fire station that we grow into as an organisation, and be equipped to be able to receive any resources that might become needed in Tamworth and New England.”

The $4.7 million dollar structure will house a four-engine bay, as well as training and sleeping areas.

The first shovels are expected to be on-site by mid August.

“It’s on track, which is fantastic, not only for us but for the community as a whole. The safety component of what these guys do for us, when a fire does start, the response times will be lower, the guys will be on-site 24/7. So, it’s a fantastic development for Tamworth.”
