HUNTER SHARK DRUM LINES TRIAL ENDS
The state government has wrapped up its smart Drum Line trial off the Hunter, as it looks to better monitor great white, tiger and bull sharks.
Four non-target shark species were also caught, including a common Blacktip.
“The SMART Drum Line in Newcastle was very successful in mitigating the risk of shark attack, we caught a number of non-target species, and that’s the real beauty of our SMART Drum Lines is that we don’t have any by-catch.” – Adam Marshall, New South Wales Agriculture Minister.
