POLICE OFFICER STRUCK OVER HEAD WITH GLASS BOTTLE AT RAYMOND TERRACE
Three men have been charged after a police officer was assaulted outside a Raymond Terrace pub on ANZAC Day.
The senior constable was left with minor swelling around his head following an incident outside a licensed premises on William Street, at around 7 o’clock in the evening.
It’s alleged when police asked a group of three men to move on they became aggressive, with a 19-year-old striking the officer over the head with a glass bottle.
Two other men, aged 22 and 24 then intervened in an attempt to free the younger man.
All three were eventually arrested, before being charged with a number of offences including affray and resist arrest.
They’re due back in Raymond Terrace Local Court in June, having been granted conditional bail.
