WPL | WALLSEND SCORE FIRST POINTS IN FRIENDSHIP CUP

In round seven of the women’s premier league, an understrength Merewether was hammered by South Wallsend and New Lambton scraped past Thornton.

Warners Bay beat the Mid North Coast and Wallsend took first points in the friendship cup.

The home side held a handy lead at half time, Georgia Little and Danielle Nicol extended the advantage.

Nothing was going right for Rosebud – Annika D’Amico went close for the visitors.

Wallsend showed no mercy, pushing to try and extend the margin.

A late free kick made it six-one to the Red Devils.

The win moves Wallsend into equal third on the ladder.
