WOMAN CHARGED OVER ARMED ROBBERY IN MAYFIELD

A woman has been charged after an alleged armed robbery in Mayfield earlier this week.

At about 3pm on Tuesday, the 35-year-old allegedly entered a chemist on Maitland Road, Mayfield.

Police will allege she threatened a store attendant with a knife, demanding prescription drugs.

Newcastle City District Police went to the scene but were unable to find the woman.

Following inquiries, at around 3pm yesterday police searched a home on Douglas Street, Stockton, where they found several items.

A woman was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station, charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

She’s been granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
