MAN SPRAYS HOTEL RESIDENT WITH FLAMMABLE LIQUID

A 30-year-old man has been charged with several assault offences, following an alleged fight at Maitland.

At around 5pm yesterday, a group of people were at a hotel on High Street, Maitland.

It’s alleged a 30-year-old man threatened a male resident at the hotel, before leaving.

He later returned to the hotel with two small containers, believed to be flammable liquid.

The man then allegedly sprayed the male resident with the liquid and threatened him, before assaulting him.

Officers were called to the scene and arrested the 30-year-old.

He was taken to Maitland Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault.

The man was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court today.
