WOMAN KILLED IN NIMBIN HIT AND RUN

A 62-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a car in the Northern Rivers village of Nimbin.

The woman was walking along Cecil Street, just after 7 o’clock on Monday evening, with her partner when the pair were struck by a northbound vehicle.

The car, believed to be a white 2004 model Subaru Forester, failed to stop and was last seen heading along Cecil Street.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene.

Her partner, a 63-year-old man was rushed to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition, having suffered a suspected broken leg.

Police say the vehicle sustained front-end damage and is missing the front grill.
