A kangaroo cull will not be going ahead in Tamworth, despite pressure from the community.
Councillors decided against the cull overnight, because of the animals’ promixity to Tamworth Base Hospital, and nearby homes.
“Because of the proximity of the request, which was based very, very close to the hospital, a very highly populated area and also roads… And to do that at night with guns is just not acceptable in that locality.”
Council says it’s nonetheless aware of the effects kangaroos have on the local environment.
It’s investigating alternatives.
