MAN FOUND IN CAR SUBMERGED IN RIVER ON THE NORTH COAST

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man on the North Coast at the weekend.

The 67-year-old was found trapped in his overturned hatchback which was submerged in a creek at Upper Fine Flower, 80 kilometres north west of Grafton.

Police believe the man may have crashed off Yulgilbar Bridge, falling nearly eight metres into the creek.

He had left a friend’s house nearby at Lionsville about 6pm on Saturday night and it’s thought the incident happened shortly after.

The car wasn’t spotted until Monday morning, as it had come to rest between the bridge and the embankment.

A passing motorist found the vehicle and alerted police.
