BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD EXTENDED FOR PARTS OF THE HUNTER

Ongoing dry weather has seen the bushfire danger period extended for the Singleton & Muswellbrook areas.

The danger period normally finishes at the end of March, though the lack of significant rain will see that date extended to April 30.

NSW RFS Inspector Paul Best said, “Despite some rain over the past weekend, many areas in the Hunter Valley remain extremely dry and now is not the time for anyone to become complacent about the risk of bush fires.

“Our overriding concern is the safety of all Hunter Valley residents and we have acted accordingly by extending the Bush Fire Danger Period until 30th April 2019.”
