ROAD SPIKES DEPLOYED IN OXLEY HIGHWAY CHASE

Police have charged a 32-year-old man after an early morning pursuit on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

It’s alleged the driver of the Ford Falcon accelerated away from an RBT site near Wauchope, after failing to co-operate with police.

He continued to lead officers along the Oxley Highway towards Port Macquarie, with road spikes deployed on Gordon Street.

The car eventually came to a stop outside the Port Macquarie Police Station.

The driver was taken for mandatory testing at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, before he was returned to the Police Station, where he was charged.

He’s due back in court on Sunday.
