QUESTIONS LOOM AFTER WOMAN’S CAR PLUNGES INTO RIVER AT LISMORE

Detectives are trying to piece together what led to a car plunging intro the Wilson River last Friday, after an elderly woman behind the wheel died in hospital.

Today, police called on anyone with dashcam footage of the woman’s white sedan, in the hopes of determining the circumstances surrounding the accident.

She is believed to have been driving the 1993 Holden Nova, with NSW rego QEN893, from Casino to Lismore along the Brunxer Highway or Naughtons Gap Road.

It left Bridge Street at around 4:30 in the afternoon and fell down an embankment.

Bystanders pulled the woman from the water, but she later died at Lismore Base Hospital.
