CLOSE TO 200 CALLS DURING EX-TROPICAL CYCLONE OMA

Northern New South Wales S-E-S units have been demobilised as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oma moves north over the Coral Sea.

Throughout the weekend, crews responded to 176 calls for help, mostly related to storm damage and minor flooding.

The weather system is still causing dangerous coastal conditions and significant beach erosion.

“We’re currently doing an aerial survey with our airborne helicopter to identify where the most damage is but from what we’ve seen so far Clarke’s Beach and that area seems to be the one that has the most impact.”

Crews are on standby in case the situation deteriorates.
