VICKERY COAL MINE MEETING CONTINUED TODAY IN GUNNEDAH

The two-day hearing into the Vickery coal mine expansion wrapped up today.

Protestors gathered as Whitehaven Coal outlined their plans for the project.

The New South Wales Independent Planning Commission has been hearing public submissions on the plans – a final decision will be a while off yet.

“So, this is very early on in the process, the Department has provided the Commission a preliminary issues report, and it’s now up to the Commission to hear from the applicant, the Department and the community and to identify the key issues for assessment.”
