PUTTING THE KOALA ON THE POLITICAL AGENDA
More than 30 volunteers will doorknock homes across Lismore this weekend to make deforestation and the conservation of koalas a priority in the state election.
According to the Nature Conservation Council, in the last 20 years koala populations have plummeted by 50% on the North Coast.
“All political parties to protect koala habitat and other high conservation forests and bushlands and to also engage in a fund to restore the forests and bushland.”
The ‘end deforestation’ campaign will include more doorknocks, candidate forums and petitions.
