BARNABY JOYCE FIRES BACK OVER MURRAY DARLING BASIN PLAN REPORT

In the wake of the recent Murray Darling Basin Plan report,

Member for New England Barnaby Joyce has responded to suggestions made by the South Australian Royal Commission.

He says it would be a disservice to regional Australia, should more water from the basin be used for the environment, rather than irrigation.

“We have to take in the socio and economic outcomes when we’re dealing with environmental outcomes, otherwise you’ll have something that’ll make Sydney really happy, and other people will be out without an economy.”

Mr Joyce claims the current Murray Darling Basin Plan is compliant with negotiations made back in 2007.
