25-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED OVER LAKE MACQUARIE FIRE

A 25-year-old man has been accused of lighting a bushfire in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Fassifern.

On January 3, fire crews were called to a suspicious blaze in bushland near the railway station.

The Financial Crime Squad’s Arson Unit investigated, and officers arrested a man at East Maitland yesterday.

Police allege he deliberately lit a fire, with 22 points of ignition.
