A man has been rescued from a balcony during a late afternoon shop fire, in the Newcastle suburb of Jesmond.
Fire crews were called to the Hirst Street building shortly after four o’clock – it’s understood packaging had caught alight inside a store.
Paramedics assessed one patient… he wasn’t taken to hospital.
The building has been given the all-clear, but emergency crews are expected to remain on scene into the night.
