HUMAN REMAINS FOUND NORTH OF TAREE

Police say human remains found in the Yarratt State Forest north of Taree may have been dumped and set alight.

Rural Fire Service firefighters found the remains while they were extinguishing a blaze on Yarratt Road.

Police say they’re unable to tell whether the remains are those of a male or female.

They have confirmed they are adult remains.

Police are searching bushland close to where the remains were found.

Firefighters have made a grizzly discovery in bushland north of Taree.

They’d put out a small fire when they discovered what are believed to be human remains in the Yarratt State Forest on Yarratt Road.

The remains are believed to be those of an adult.

Manning-Great Lakes police are on the scene and will give more details to the media later today
