Police say the 45-year-old stabbed another man in the leg around 2.30 yesterday afternoon, after an altercation at a Johnston Street hostel.

The injured man was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The younger man initially fled the scene, before later handing himself into police.
