MAN DIES FOLLOWING HOME INVASION AT LAKE MACQUARIE

A 60-year-old man has died, after a home invasion in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Whitebridge.

Police have been told three men, who had their faces covered and were armed with baseball bats and knives broke into the Lonus Avenue home during the early hours of Monday morning, attacking the man in his bedroom.

He was rushed to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital suffering a serious injury to his arm, however later died.

The man’s two brothers, who were home at the time, escaped uninjured.

Police are now investigating whether the attack was targeted.
