TEEN CHARGED OVER SICKENING ASSAULT IN TAMWORTH

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged over a sickening attack on a man who’s believed to have special needs in Tamworth.

Police allege the 20-year-old-man was with a group of people on the corner of Peel and Jewry streets yesterday afternoon, when he was punched multiple times by the teen.

The ordeal was filmed on a phone and sent out on social media.

The man can be heard pleading; “No, no, please don’t. I just want to be friends.”

An hour later, at 3:30pm, it’s alleged the man was assaulted again at Tamworth Railway Station. Which was also filmed and distributed on social media.

Oxley Police were notified at 6pm and later that evening a 15-year-old-boy attended Tamworth Police Station and was arrested.

He was charged with two counts of affray and common assault.

He was granted conditional bail and will face Children’s Court on Janurary 8.
