GOVERNMENT TO HOLD WATER EXTRACTION INQUIRY

An independent review into the bottled water industry has been announced by the New South Wales Government.

It follows widespread backlash about the industry’s impact on water supplies in the Northern Rivers.

It will be carried out by the state’s chief scientist, and is expected to provide advice on sustainable groundwater extraction.

“Until that’s done we don’t want to see anymore development applications for this type of industry approved on the North Coast.”

A report is due to be handed down in mid-2019.
