Merewether’s Matt Hall has fallen agonisingly short of winning a maiden Air Race title, after finishing second at the final round in Texas early this morning.
With series leader Michael Goulian eliminated in the round of eight, Hall gave himself every chance of winning the event and the series.
But the Czech Republic’s Martin Šonka had other ideas, beating Hall’s time by just three tenths of a second to win the round at Fort Worth, and also claim the world title.
Hall was runner-up in the championship for the third time in his career.
