CALLS FOR MORE SECURITY FOLLOWING HOSPITAL ATTACK

The Health Services Union is calling for security to be doubled at Lismore Base Hopsital after a wardsman was stabbed with a syringe over the weekend.

The Union claims there was only one security guard on duty in the Emergency Department on the day of the attack.

“This is an opportunity for not only this hospital but the local health district to actually increase security staffing across all of our hospitals.”

The Northern New South Wales Local Health District says it regularly reviews security needs, and will continue to monitor the staff member for months to come.
