HUNTER ICON CLOSES ITS DOORS

A Hunter icon is set close with Event Cinemas announcing the decision to permanently shut its Tower Cinema complex on King Street, in Newcastle’s CBD.

It’s believed staff were notified of the decision via email this morning.

The venue will close its doors on December 5 with all events scheduled after that date will be moved to an alternative venue.

Event Cinemas say the decision is based on their commitment to invest in other venues in the region.

The cinema opened its doors in 1974 and has been host to a range of local film festivals and productions.
