Work to improve safety on the notorious Alstonville Bypass will begin on Monday.
The works come after a number of fatal and serious accidents at the dangerous intersection over the years.
The Bruxner Highway will be widened, giving more space for motorists turning left onto Ballina Road.
There’s also discussions about trialling a banned right hand turn out of Ballina Road in the afternoons.
