HERO SURFERS SAVE CENTRAL COAST TEEN FROM DROWNING

Two surfers have saved a teenage boy’s life, pulling him from the water after he tried to save a friend in distress at Soldiers Beach.

Police say a 17-year-old girl was caught in a rip and the young man tried to help her just before 7:00PM last night.

He then went under, himself.

She made it out of the waves to raise the alarm and two surfers helped to rescue the boy, performing chest compressions while out in the water before bringing him in to shore.

Chris Parker from Surf Life Saving Central Coast says being overconfident and trying to help a mate is, unfortunately, a major cause of drownings.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to Gosford Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Vision only in parts.
