SEXUAL ASSAULT AT WINDALE CONFIRMED A FALSE REPORT

Police investigating the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl at Lake Macquarie last week have confirmed the incident didn’t occur.

Officers were originally told the girl had been sexually assaulted by a man she didn’t know in bushland near South Street at Windale.

Following an investigation, which included forensic examinations, it was concluded the report was false.

The girl has been offered support services.
