MAN CHARGED OVER DEATH OF CENTRAL COAST WOMAN

A 48-year-old man has been charged with murder, after being arrested in Inverell over the death of Central Coast woman Leisl Smith.

Smith was last seen leaving her Wallarah home in August of 2012, and her car was found abandoned at Tuggerah Railway Station more than a month later.

Police conducted a number of searches at the time, including at properties at Wallarah, Brookfield, and on the Golden Highway at Merriwa.

Late yesterday detectives arrested a 48-year-old man on the Gwydir Highway.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with murder.
