TOWNSVILLE FIRE BEATEN BY DANDENONG RANGERS

Despite a double-double from Hunter basketball legend Suzy Batkovic, the Townsville Fire fell to the Dandenong Rangers 73-68 in the opening round of the WNBL.

Now in her final season, Batkovic top-scored with 20 points, and bagged 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t a perfect start for fellow Novocastrian, Katie Rae Ebzery.

She managed just three points, all from the free-throw line, in Perth’s 12-point loss to Adelaide.
