YELLOW-BELLIED SEA SNAKE WASHES UP ON NEWCASTLE COASTLINE

Wild weather saw an unexpected visitor at Newcastle’s Cowrie Hole this afternoon, as a yellow-bellied sea snake washed ashore.

A member of the public noticed the creature and called police.

Sea snakes aren’t commonly found this close to land, with the professional catcher saying it looked exhausted.

It’s being cared for at a local vet surgery, before being released back into the ocean.
