FUNDS RAISED FOR CANCER RESEARCH IN FRIENDS HONOUR
More than 100 keen golfers took to the greens today, but it wasn’t so much a competition, but to honour an old friend – David Clemson, who lost his battle to cancer in 2016.
“He passed away to years ago and we had this day in memory of his to support his family and the support’s just overwhelming,” Dan Elsley, organiser.
Now an annual event, it aims to raise awareness for regular check-ups.
This year’s fundraising goal of $10,000 will be spread between multiple families impacted by the loss of a loved one to cancer.
“We’re well and truly behind the cancer unit of Tamworth, we’re looking towards that in the future because as I said it’s building up to be quite a big thing and I hope more and more people get behind it.”
