650 METRES OF COPPER WIRE STOLEN FROM LAKE MACQUARIE

Twelve hundred homes in Lake Macquarie lost power over the long weekend after would-be thieves interfered with live power lines.

Emergency crews were called to a fault at Marks Point early Saturday morning, to find the base of a power pole exposed – in an attempt to remove copper wire, sparking a fire and causing significant damage.

So far this year, 500 metres of copper wire has been stolen from Awaba Road and another 150-metres of live overhead lines have been cut down at the Toronto West substation.

  1. I had a house entirely stripped of copper wiring when council were redoing cardiff streetscape coincidentally the night all the wiring was stripped from the house certain individuals were redoing wiring in the street. Police interviewed noone that was working from council and the contractors that night obviously understaffed. Gee boys if the same people who are installing new wiring at the same time wiring goes missing at the same location it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come to an equation that it wasn’t the man in the moon. !!
