WEAPONS DISCOVERED IN ALLEGEDLY STOLEN CAR AT KINGSCLIFF

Four people have been charged after weapons were discovered in an allegedly stolen car on the state’s Far North Coast.

Officers found the Ford Focus in the carpark of a hotel on Marine Parade at Kingscliff on Thursday afternoon.

It’s alleged when police entered the venue, a number of people left the hotel.

Two 26-year-old men were located in another vehicle at a nearby shopping centre, while a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested in nearby Pearl Street.

A search of the Ford Focus uncovered a number of items including a firearm, a machete, knives and prohibited drugs.

The 24-year-old man was charged with a string of offences including possessing an unregistered firearm in a public place, while the 26-year-old man was charged with a weapons related offence.

The second 26-year-old man, and a 21-year-old woman were issued Field Court Attendance Notices.
