A critical incident investigation has been launched after a crash at Tweed Heads, which claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.
Police attempted to stop a speeding Mazda hatch on the M1 at around 9:30 last night, pursuing the vehicle for a short time.
The pursuit was stopped due to the safety concerns, with officers later finding the hatch had hit a tree.
The driver was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital, where he later died.
